The workshop w/ Mrs. Tate was informative and fun.
Many of her strategies I have been using for several years. I am currently working hard to integrate music into our daily routine. I love the idea of using music as a "timer" of sorts. As we are employing three part openers, work session, and closing into our daily lesson plans here at Jordan a signal for each has become pretty important.
I also struggle with a small physical space and lots of bodies so the kinesthetic component is one that I am still "brainstorming!"

It has been a few weeks now since we met with Marcia Tate, but I am still motivated by what she had to say. I came back to work with my very energetic preschoolers with lots of ideas inspired by Marcia. We did few a things differently and added to some of what we already do daily. I have taught a number of concepts with movements to music we play daily and my students love it. In fact they want to do the Macharana Months of the year each day and start before me. I really see learning and application of ideas much more independently from some of my students. I can just imagine what could happen in higher grade levels and with a variety of content. I am also thankful for Marcia's book Worksheets Don't Grow Dendrites. I never have been an advocate for worksheets except when nessesary, in fact I like to make my own.
Marcia Tate : Brain Based Learning
I had so much fun learning new ways to help our students learn that for the first time in a long , long time, I did not want the session to end. All those new activities and ideas are wonderful! I have been using ideas such as group , couple , student teaching or music, visuals etc to make my classroom a fun place to learn. Now, I have even more ideas to put to the test. Thank you Marcia for such a great presentation. Kim and Betsy a big THANK YOU for making it possible for us to have had such a magnificent session.
